Franchise Best – With tonight’s win, Victoria improves to 6-0-0-0 which continues the franchise record for best start to a season. The previous mark was 4-0-0-0 which was set back in the 2015-16 campaign.

Making their Mark – The Royals added two familiar faces to their line-up tonight. Over-age veterans Tyler Soy (Anaheim Ducks) and Chaz Reddekopp (Los Angeles Kings) both scored in their first game with Victoria after they returned from NHL and AHL training camps.

Streaking Skaters – Victoria’s Matthew Phillips, Dante Hannoun and Ryan Peckford all extended their point streaks to six games in the victory. Through the team’s six contests this year, Hannoun has recorded 15 points (8g-7a) which places him second in scoring among all players in the WHL. Phillips (3g-11a) and Peckford (6g-6a) both rank third and fourth in the league respectively.

Puck Stopper – Royals’ netminder Griffen Outhouse was sharp once again tonight as he turned aside 32 of the 33 shots he faced. The product of Likely, BC leads all WHL netminders in save percentage (0.951), goals against average (1.87), and is tied for the league lead in wins with five.

Powerplay Prowess – The Royals converted on the man-advantage once again tonight. Victoria has recorded at least one powerplay goal in every contest this season. The club ranks first in the WHL in powerplay goals with 13, and is fourth in powerplay percentage with a mark of 13/40=32.5%.

Milestone Man – Royals’ Captain Matthew Phillips took part in his 150th WHL contest tonight. The Calgary Flames’ prospect has registered 183 points (91g-92a) throughout his career with Victoria.

Next Up – The Royals will return home next week for action against the Tri-City Americans on Tuesday, October 10th and Wednesday, October 11th.
