Calgary to host 2017 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships

OTTAWA, ON:  The 2017 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships has been awarded to Calgary, Alberta. The event will take place from February 24-26, 2017 at WinSport’s Markin MacPhail Centre.

“We are delighted to be back in Calgary for the 2017 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships. The city and our Alberta-NWT/Nunavut Section have hosted many great skating events and we have seen some historic moments happen on Calgary ice. We know once again the city will rally to support our synchronized skating teams as they vie for national titles,” said Dan Thompson, CEO, Skate Canada.

We look forward to welcoming Skate Canada’s athletes, coaches, judges and fans to our city.”

The 2017 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships will bring approximately 40 teams and over 800 skaters from across the country to Calgary. The city and facility last hosted this event in 2013.

Teams will compete for national titles in the senior, junior, open, intermediate and novice categories. The top two senior teams will represent Canada at the 2017 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships.
